It was back in 2020 that we, Sig Hansen and June Hansen, became a part of the owners of Mortholmen. Today we are sole owners of the island, and Mortholmen has become a project and a passion that we share together. <\/p>\n

Many of you might know Sig from the TV-show Deadliest Catch on Discovery Channel. Across two decades, Captain Sig has showed everyone how to survive and fish for king crab in the dangers of the Barents Sea. The series has allowed viewers to get to know both him and our family. <\/p>\n

Now another adventure awaits, this time at Mortholmen. This place means a lot to us \u2013 some of our best memories are from Mortholmen. But we also know that this historical place means a lot to so many more. That\u2019s the reason we want to give something back, to make Mortholmen a place for gatherings and joyful moments. Recently we have invested a lot of our time and resources to restore the inside, and the outside, of the building. We have taken care of and preserved what we could, while ensuring that the building is now equipped to withstand the harsh weather and rough sea for another 100 years. <\/p>\n

Our hope is that the work that is now being put in will ensure that the place\u2019s unique history and important role in the Norwegian fishing legacy will never be forgotten. All whilst making it possible for new memories and stories to be created at Mortholmen that today function as a venue.V\u00e5rt h\u00e5p er at arbeidet som n\u00e5 blir lagt ned skal sikre at plassens unike historie og viktige rolle i norsk fiskerihistorie aldri blir glemt. Samtidig har vi lagt til rette for at nye minner og historier kan skapes i det gamle sildesalteriet som i dag fungerer som et selskapslokale og turistattraksjon. <\/p>\n

Sig Hansen and his crew on the Northwestern have been an essential part of the hit TV show Deadliest Catch<\/em> ever since it premiered in 2005. The Discovery Channel series follows the crew as they hunt for crab in the dangerous Bering Sea \u2013 considered the world\u2019s deadliest job. <\/p>\n

Sig Hansen and his daughter, Mandy Hansen, also star in their own spin-off, Deadliest Catch: The Viking Returns, where the father-daughter duo travel back to their homeland, Norway, hoping to build a fishing empire.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>
